Who controls your data
Qriscorp operates Orbit and is the data controller. Contact our privacy team at privacy@qriscorp.com. Safety concerns can be sent to safety@qriscorp.com.
Data we collect
We receive your Orbit account identifier, name and email; profile, interests and avatar; approximate area and coordinates you choose to share; connections, messages, blocks and reports; and essential technical and security records.
Orbit does not display your exact coordinates or put you on a public map. Nearby results use coarse distance. Location expires from discovery after 30 days unless refreshed.
Why we use it
We use this data to authenticate you, show nearby people, enable consensual connections and messages, prevent abuse, investigate reports, secure the service, provide support and comply with Ugandan law. We do not sell personal data or use precise location for advertising.
Sharing and international processing
Authorised service providers may process limited data for authentication, hosting, storage and delivery. Some providers may process data outside Uganda. Qriscorp must use appropriate contractual and security safeguards and remains responsible for its processors. We disclose data when lawfully required or necessary to protect people and the service.
Retention
Active profile and location data is kept while your account exists; stale location is excluded from discovery after 30 days. Messages and connection history remain until account deletion or an applicable operational/legal need ends. Safety reports and preserved message evidence may be retained for up to 24 months, or longer where required for an active investigation or law. Security logs are normally retained for up to 12 months. Backups rotate out under the backup schedule.
Your choices and rights
You can update your profile, stop discovery, remove location, block people and delete your account. You may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction or object to certain processing by emailing the privacy team. We will verify requests before acting. You may complain to Uganda’s Personal Data Protection Office.
Account deletion and safety evidence
Use Profile → Account and privacy → Delete account, or follow the public account-deletion instructions. Deletion removes your account, profile, connections and ordinary messages from the live service. Qriscorp may keep a minimised safety report, message snapshot or legal record where necessary to protect users or meet legal obligations; it will no longer be used for discovery or ordinary messaging.
Children, security and changes
Orbit is for people aged 18 or older. We use access controls, encrypted transport and limited staff access, but no online service is risk-free. We will publish material changes here and, where appropriate, notify users in the service.
